Help us reach more riders and change lives for generations to come
The Linda Jones Riding for Disabled Cambridge Foundation has been established to create sound, ongoing financial support for the Cambridge Riding for Disabled Group as they continue their fantastic work with young disabled young people from Cambridge and wider Waipa community.
The local RDA Group is one of over 50 groups around the country, affiliated to the NZ Riding for the Disabled Association. The group has existed and operated for over 40 years being first incorporated in 1983.
Cambridge RDA’s vision is
to reach more riders and change more lives
Cambridge RDA
Cambridge RDA is led by an enthusiastic management committee passionate about their cause and dedicated to helping as many disabled children and others as possible.
The group operate on their small farmlet and covered arena just behind the Gaslight Theatre at 8 Alpha Street, alongside the Te Awa river walkway, on greenbelt land owned by the Waipa District Council.
Thanks to donations from a range of sources over the years and the commitment of volunteers, Cambridge Riding for the Disabled’s focus is to make a positive difference.
Our horses become the therapists
Our riding programs are designed to help develop and increase physical abilities, communication, concentration, social skills, confidence, and self-esteem.
Each class is tailored to the rider's needs and goals
We also provide our riders with a sport and an opportunity for recreation in a supportive environment that is fun, exhilarating, and different.
Help us reach more riders and change lives for generations to come

Isabelle
Isabelle is 3 years old. She has been riding for a year now and her and Bella make a very cute Duo. Isabelle's mum has seen a lot of improvement with her stamina and core strength while riding and thinks that it has transfered to all other physicals skills in day to day tasks too. We asked Isabelle what she enjoys about RDA and she said "Playing games like throwing the ball in the bucket on Bella and trotting in the arena" and her favourite memory is the first time she ever trotted!
Ethan
Ethan is 6 years old. He has been riding now for just over a year, as he started just before lockdown last year. Ethan has been riding Lacey and they are getting on really well.
When asked what he thinks RDA has helped him with; Ethan said he feels more confident everytime he rides and can now standup in his stirrups!
Ethan says his favourite memory is the first time he got to ride Lacey and he now loves riding her on farm rides in the sunshine!
Keziah
"Keziah loves turning up on Thursdays, she squeals with excitement knowing she's about to see Trixie (her horse) and the team. Her balance and core control have improved so much since we started. The joy this place bring my little girl is absolutely priceless. It's one of very few places that children like mine feel accepted, included and so safe.
Thank you for your funding for RDA. Without the kind help of people like you, this wonderful place wouldn't be able to run so smoothly."
